If you are in Malaysia and have RM2,888 (S$873) to spare, you could splurge on a decadent “Most Expensive RM2,888 Popiah”. And yes, that’s its official name.
The very boujee roll is a collaboration between a Kuala Lumpur restaurant called Nimbus, and Ipoh popiah chain Bibi’s Popiah.

Why so expensive?
At an event to unveil the popiah, Nimbus Restaurant’s owner-chef, Fred Choong, and chef Yao Tong from Bibi’s Popiah introduced the ingredients that went into the roll, which explains its eye-watering price.
According to the chefs, each popiah is stuffed with “five different ingredients from different countries”.
