Tell This Hawker Your Budget & He’ll Whip Up A Zi Char ‘Omakase’ Meal At Fatty Ox HK Kitchen
Want a hearty, affordable ‘omakase’ and you don’t mind a humid hawker centre setting? Try Fatty Ox HK Kitchen.
The Chinatown Complex Food Centre hawker stall offers a zi char ‘omakase’ with no fixed menu or price. Diners call ahead, state their group size and indicate how much they are willing to spend. The hawker then decides what to cook for them.
Fatty Ox is better known for its Hong Kong-style noodles and roast meats. Its signature braised beef brisket and tendon noodles, served with springy egg noodles, have been known to sell out before lunch. The stall is also listed under the Michelin Guide’s Selected category, which highlights its selection of noodles, pork trotter and barbecued meats.
Fatty Ox now operates from two stalls side by side. One serves its usual noodles and roast meats, while the other whips up Cantonese zi char dishes.
