Ex-Restaurant Chef Opens Stall Selling $6 Truffle Pasta Beside Fiancée’s $3.20 A Bowl Prawn Mee Shop
Since it opened in September this year, Woodleigh Village Hawker Centre has become home to many Gen-Z and millennial hawkers. One name we recognise is 24-year-old Xiao Xuan’s – here, the zoomer has opened the third outlet of her popular fusion rice bowl chain, Liu Kou Shui, plus a new prawn mee concept, Liu Da Xia. But what many might not know is that the stall right next to her noodle joint – named Style Palate – is opened by her fiance, Darryl Tan (right in pic), 27, and his pal, Ng Shi Long (left), 25.
While Xiao Xuan sells more typical hawker fare like prawn mee (starting from $3.20), Style Palate specialises in modern European food like Duck Confit ($12) and Cold Umami Angel Hair pasta ($6). Darryl used to work in a Japanese restaurant while Shi Long was a junior sous chef at the Tippling Club.
