Last Thursday, the owner of charcoal-roasted meat brand Char Siu Lang announced the closure of his flagship Bukit Merah outlet on social media. In the post, he cites “shortage of manpower” and “rising of the rental cost” as reasons for winding down his popular two-year-old stall. His second outlet at Ang Mo Kio, which opened last October, remains in operation.
