On the eve of Chinese New Year (Feb 9) this year, coffeeshop operator Chang Cheng Holdings announced on its social media platforms and LinkedIn that its CEO, Mr Erik Wang Wah Khaim, has “stepped down from his position for personal reasons”.

The major F&B player started as an economical rice stall some 30 years ago. It has since expanded to now run 16 halal and non-halal concepts in Singapore, like its well-known eponymous chain of cai png stalls and bubble tea brand Partea. According to its website, it employs more than 1,200 staff at over 200 shop outlets islandwide.
