Coffeeshop & Cai Png Stall Operator Chang Cheng Holdings’ CEO Steps Down On CNY Eve ‘For Personal Reasons’
A brief statement provided by the company added that its former CEO, Erik Wang, will have “no authority” to represent the company “with immediate effect”.
On the eve of Chinese New Year (Feb 9) this year, coffeeshop operator Chang Cheng Holdings announced on its social media platforms and LinkedIn that its CEO, Mr Erik Wang Wah Khaim, has “stepped down from his position for personal reasons”.
The major F&B player started as an economical rice stall some 30 years ago. It has since expanded to now run 16 halal and non-halal concepts in Singapore, like its well-known eponymous chain of cai png stalls and bubble tea brand Partea. According to its website, it employs more than 1,200 staff at over 200 shop outlets islandwide.

No authority to represent company “with immediate effect”
In its announcement, the company added: “With immediate effect, Mr. ERIK WANG WAH KHAIM will have no authority to represent, act for and/or bind the Company and its related and associated companies in the Chang Cheng Group.”
The post expressed that Chang Cheng Holdings’ founder and executive chairman, Mr Kok Kuan Hwa, “would like to thank [Erik] for his contributions during his tenure”.
While the notice also included an e-mail contact for media relations, a request sent by 8days.sg for comment on the matter had no response.
