Weekday lunches just got sexier. From May 27, “hawker hunk” Walter Tay, who is just as famous for his ripped bod as he is for his shiok chai tow kway, will be flexing his muscles in a new fitness segment on Mediacorp’s lunchtime variety show Home Together on Ch 5. Walter and Last Madame actress and model Fiona Fussi will be taking turns to lead viewers through mini workouts including Tabata and bodyweight exercises. Each session is around five to eight minutes long, and guaranteed to work up a sweat. Perfect for all of you hoping to shed those Circuit Breaker snacking-induced kilos.

But the 32-year-old has no intention of swapping his frying ladle for dumbbells permanently. When 8days.sg spoke to the dishy second-generation hawker over the phone last week, he said business at both his carrot cake stalls — Father & Son in Bukit Panjang and Mother & Daughter in Kampung Admiralty — has been so good, he can barely cope.

“I was a little worried about business when the Circuit Breaker measures were announced, but things were very siong on the first day of CB. Our stalls are located in the heartlands, so a lot of people came to tapow food and we also saw an increase in deliveries. Overall sales has increased 15 to 20 per cent. Now, I am back to working 12 to 14 hour days, and they are literally back-breaking,” says Walter.
