Home-based F&B businesses have proliferated since Covid-19 made everyone homebound. Even celebs are getting into the game – like veteran actor Terence Cao, who started a mee siam delivery business with fellow stars Dawn Yeoh, Shane Pow and Vincent Ng.

Called Sibay Shiok, Terence’s two-week-old biz currently offers just two dishes: dry mee siam with sambal prawns, and abalone fried rice. Most of the ingredients are sourced from Singapore-based farms, as the four famous bosses share the same ethos to support local enterprises.

The abalones used, for instance, are from local listed seafood supplier Oceanus Group. Sibay Shiok is partnering with nine Singaporean farms to sell their produce on its site, the first of these being Oceanus. Terence tells 8days.sg: “We don’t want to be just another business selling something online. We needed a purpose, and we thought since we all like food, why not support local farmers?”
