Kate Pang & Marcus Chin Opening Sichuan Restaurant Serving Spicy Grilled Fish

Sichuan cuisine has been gaining popularity in Singapore in recent years thanks to the mala trend, and it looks set to get even hotter. Hoping to get in on the mala madness are TV hosts Kate Pang and Marcus Chin, who have partnered with a group of investors to open Sichuan restaurant Tian Tian You Yu, which literally means “have fish every day” in Mandarin. The restaurant specialises in tongue-numbing Kao Yu, or grilled fish, and is slated to open April 24 at 111 Somerset mall.

The dish — usually served in a special grill pan — involves a whole fish that’s first grilled before being poached in a punchy sauce loaded with spices and aromatics. Apart from grilled fish, the restaurant also serves up authentic Sichuan fare such as La Ji Zi (stir-fried chicken with dried chillies).

Tian Tian You Yu, which opens end April, will boast 70 seats and “modern contemporary décor”. The grilled fish is priced at $36.80 for an 800g fish.
