Foodie Friday: What The Stars Ate This Week (Jul 24-31)
All the photos that made us hungry this week.

It's been an indulgent week for the celebs. Kimberly Wang ordered a milkshake that was larger than life; Chen Xiuhuan got creative and incorporated daughter Shanisse Tsai’s fave eats in her birthday “cake”; and Pan Lingling got inspired by Fann Wong’s chiffon bakes and was determined to get hers right. Meanwhile, Belinda Lee personally whipped up a mean crab dish as a birthday gift for hair maestro David Gan. Yum.

Chen Xiuhuan
What she ate: Sushi cake
Yummy factor: Xiuhuan thought long and hard about what her daughter, Shanisse Tsai, would want for her birthday cake, and eventually decided to DIY a mouthwatering sushi cake containing the 22-year-old's favourite ingredients — think thick slices of salmon sashimi, fresh prawns, abalone and sea urchin atop a bed of sushi rice and seaweed.

Belinda Lee
What she ate: Black pepper crab
Yummy factor: Belinda showed off her culinary prowess in the loving dish of black pepper crab she fried up for longtime friend and celebrity hairstylist David Gan’s birthday. There were at least two sizable whole crabs in the casserole — David’s one lucky man alright!

Zhai Siming
What he ate: “Ah Zhai” omelette
Yummy factor: Fancy ordering an “Ah Zhai” omelette from Siming himself? The Star Search 2019 finalist's hearty omelette is chock full of ham, cherry tomatoes and greens. He’ll even serve it with sliced toast.

Fann Wong
What she ate: Homemade canelés
Yummy factor: Fann is fast establishing herself as a seasoned baker, especially with her latest batch of canelés — petite French pastries that are notoriously hard to perfect. And how cute are these Hello Kitty chiffon popsicles?

Kimberly Wang
What she ate: Freakshake
Yummy factor: Although Kimberly was duly warned by the experienced folks at Black Tap about the size of their CrazyShakes, she was still left amazed by how huge her Churro Choco Taco milkshake was when it arrived. In fact, she didn’t know how to deal with it, and it ended up melting into a sad blob on its side within minutes.

Ferlyn Wong
What she ate: Spicy ramen
Yummy factor: It was a carb-heavy kinda day for Ferlyn, who had a hearty bowl of spicy tonkotsu ramen at Ippudo, along with salmon sushi topped with lightly-torched mentaiko — the perfect recipe for a solid food coma.

Elvin Ng
What he ate: Eight-course tasting menu
Yummy factor: Elvin was invited by BOSS to lunch at Salted and Hung, where he had the brand’s exclusive eight-course tasting menu ($138++) of which 10% of proceeds go to Food Bank Singapore. Think pearl grouper with bone crumb and charcoal, house-cured Charcuterie Platter, a unique uni panna cotta and more.

Hong Ling
What she ate: Mookata
Yummy factor: Hong Ling had a late dinner with boyfriend Nick Teo at 888 Mookata, and the famished lovebirds had no qualms about ordering a whole table’s worth of food with several plates of meat. Well, Nick has probably figured that the way to Hong Ling’s heart is likely through her stomach.

Jade Seah
What she ate: Mala xiang guo
Yummy factor: Even ardent fans of mala xiang guo will find Jade’s order-for-one a little hard to stomach — literally. Her bowl of spiced-up ingredients is at least twice the size of her face, and would have been probably adequate for two to share. As yummy as it looks, we hope she didn’t get a stomach ache from all that chilli oil!

Nurul Aini
What she ate: Chocolate chip cookies
Yummy factor: Nurul’s sister got her a bottle of chocolate chip cookies from online bakery Eastern Cookies, and she loved it so much that she kept it in the car — so she can have it all! Well, we would do that too if we had three kiddos at home who would polish the addictive treats off in no time.

Pan Lingling
What she ate: Gula melaka chiffon cake
Yummy factor: After multiple tries, Lingling has finally mastered the art of baking a proper chiffon cake, and even complimented Fann Wong for doing it so well. Well, there’s now plenty to celebrate — her successful fluffy cake and getting to eat a slice of her fave gula melaka chiffon.

Evelyn Tan and Hazelle Teo
What she ate: Brunch fare
Yummy factor: The YES 933 DJs spent a relaxing afternoon at Merci Marcel’s Club Street outlet, where they ordered carb-heavy nosh like the silky-smooth Ravioles de Royans, Angus beef steak with homemade fries and French toast to share over drinks. No wonder Hazelle had to go exercise for an hour after this.

Dennis Chew
What he ate: Dong bo rou
Yummy factor: Dennis had a thick slab of braised pork bell and it looks so tempting with the glazed sauce poured atop the succulent layers of fats and meat. We bet it melted in his mouth.

Patricia Mok
What she ate: Bak kut teh
Yummy factor: Tuan Yuan Bak Kut Teh is one of Patricia’s favourite haunts for prime ribs doused in peppery broth, and she even found the stomach space for a plate of muah chee rolled in ground peanut and black sesame. Well, there’s clearly always room for dessert.

Rayson Tan
What he ate: Homemade bread
Yummy factor: There’s no doubt that Rayson’s serious about his ketogenic diet — he’s even baking his own low-carb bread now, taking inspiration from YouTuber The Keto King. We don’t know about you, but it’s loaf at first sight for us.

Sora Ma
What she ate: Brownie stack
Yummy factor: At first glance, the Avengers-themed confection from online bakery The New Tastement looks like a simple chocolate cake sprinkled with sea salt. Look a little closer and you’ll realise it’s made with tiers of keto-friendly brownies that are gluten, sugar and carb-free — talk about a guilt-free indulgence.

Rosalyn Lee
What she ate: Milo Dinosaur donuts
Yummy factor: Virtual press conferences work just as well for Rozz, especially when she gets to sink her teeth into a whole box of these dope Milo Dinosaur donuts dusted with Milo powder and sugar from Burnt Ends.

Sharon Au
What she ate: Chwee kueh
Yummy factor: Now that Sharon’s back in Singapore, she’s taking every opportunity she can get to satisfy her cravings for local fare. The snack in question this week is chwee kueh from Tiong Bahru’s Jian Bo Shui Kueh — a stack of smooth, steamed rice cakes topped with a generous hype of chye poh.

Bonnie Loo
What she ate: Korean barbecue
Yummy factor: What better way to get over the mid-week hump than hearing the sizzle of your fave meats on the BBQ? Bonnie indulged in a hearty Korean lunch and got busy grilling meats and munching on plenty of Korean-style side dishes — she probably had a serious food coma after.

Nick Shen
What he ate: Ice cream
Yummy factor: Nick has finally had his first meal at a restaurant after the Circuit Breaker period, and he went straight for triple scoops of ice cream at JustAcia — because why not?
