Foodie Friday: What The Stars Ate This Week (Apr 16-23)
All the photos that made us hungry this week.

This week, Joanne Peh rolled up her sleeves and baked cupcake favours for her son Qi Didi’s birthday, Terence Cao and his Sibay Shiok team tried their hand at making artisan bread, and Thomas Ong and Carole Lin checked out Hong Junyang's cafe. Read on for more.

Joanne Peh
What she ate: Cupcakes
Yummy factor: Although her schedule has been jam-packed, Joanne still made time to fulfill her promise of baking cupcake favours for her son Qi Didi’s fourth birthday on Wednesday (Apr 21). The thoughtful mama even made sure that her piped chocolate creations were gluten and dairy-free, so little tummies won’t get upset.

Michelle Chong, Jeanette Aw and Pornsak
What they ate: Exquisite sushi, caviar and cake
Yummy factor: Not everyone gets to book an entire restaurant for a birthday celebration, much less a popular location like Ryo Sushi. Well, Michelle did just that, along with Pornsak, Jeanette Aw and friends. They spent the night indulging in exquisite sushi, precious kaluga caviar (from the chef’s secret stash, no less) and bakes by Jeanette herself. Not only did Jeanette surprise Michelle with a gorgeous mango pavlova cake for her birthday, she also shared a sneak preview of what’s coming up for her patisserie.

Michelle Chia
What she ate: Home-cooked meal
Yummy factor: Michelle got to tuck into all her favourite dishes at home with family, and the spread included braised duck, fried prawns, chicken feet soup and more. Her favourite, however, had to be the collagen-rich braised pig skin, which she promptly devoured.

Pierre Png and Andrea De Cruz
What they ate: Western grill
Yummy factor: Pierre and Andrea lent their support to the young hawkerpreneurs at King’s Western Grill, and it appears that they’ve gotten the classics down pat — the chicken chop with black pepper sauce and grilled lamb shoulder looked most appetising with generously-portioned sides.

Edwin Goh, Dawn Yeoh, Zhang Zhenhuan, and Terence Cao
What they ate: Freshly-baked breads
Yummy factor: Team Sibay Shiok and fellow celeb pals put on their aprons and learned the art of breadmaking, whipping up pastries from flaky croissants to crisp baguettes. And it appears that Terence was really pleased with the results, judging by how he wolfed down one of the buns. It seems like Sibay Shiok will be offering some yummy bread options next?

Yvonne Lim
What she ate: Kaya toast
Yummy factor: Yvonne’s always happiest when she gets to satisfy her cravings for local foods. This time, she got to have a modern interpretation of kaya toast with peanut butter and a soft boiled egg on the side at Tamed Fox Cafe in Taipei, along with breakfast sausages, a colourful steak bowl and more.

Ann Kok
What she ate: Japanese-Italian menu
Yummy factor: From the looks of it, Ann’s private dining experience at The Wood Ear was a real treat for her senses — highlights from the nine-dish menu include wagyu sukiyaki, raw scallops flavoured with radish and ponzu, crab meat with dashi and ikura, and arancini (stuffed rice ball).

Shaun Chen
What he ate: Chilli crab
Yummy factor: Never mind that he’ll have to get his hands dirty — Shaun looks most excited to be tucking into his yuzu-infused chilli crab from Sibay Shiok for dinner. That gloriously gooey gravy along with juicy pomelo bits, will go perfectly well with some fried mantous (or the ciabatta it comes with!).

Thomas Ong and Carole Lin
What they ate: Korean army stew
Yummy factor: Although the weather has been pretty warm of late, the heat didn’t stop Thomas and Carole from getting their fix of bubblin’ Korean army stew — with plenty of instant ramyeon — at Hong Junyang’s cafe cum cloud kitchen Caf. Plus, how could Carole resist a treat from Thomas?

Huang Biren
What she ate: Din Tai Fung signatures
Yummy factor: Biren couldn’t be happier to dine with veteran actress Lin Ruping over the weekend, where they caught up over a delicious spread of Din Tai Fung signatures like juicy xiao long bao, egg fried rice, chilled drunken chicken slices, stir-fried greens and more.

Ya Hui
What she ate: Porridge
Yummy factor: Biren wasn’t the only celeb who met up with Ruping recently — Ya Hui also got to catch up with her reel life mum in dialect drama How Are You? over fuss-free bowls of thick Cantonese-style porridge with fried you tiao. And although the takeaway meal probably wasn’t as fancy as the one Biren had with Ruping, it still looked yummy nonetheless.

Zoe Tay, Chen Xiuhuan, Terence Cao, Vincent Ng, and Hong Zhaorong
What they ate: Fish lips
Yummy factor: Ah Jie and her hiking buddies thoroughly enjoyed their lunch at Zai Shun Curry Fish Head, where they had collagen-rich fish lips with plenty of sinful chunks of lard, a whole steamed fish and hae bee hiam to go with their porridge. Does that sound shiok or what?

Nick Shen
\What he ate: Old school ice cream
Yummy factor: Nostalgia has never tasted sweeter for Nick, especially when it comes in the form of ice-cream sandwiches and attap chee ice cream. Nick even scored extra chocolate chips for his dessert from the affable ice-cream uncle — yay to cheap thrills.

Desmond Tan
What he ate: Homemade eats
Yummy factor: Desmond couldn’t have put it better when he said he got to start his day with love — he woke up to homemade eats like hearty toast with an omelette sandwiched in between, as well as a nourishing bowl of hashima dessert simmered with red dates. We bet it tasted great 'cos it was made with lots of love.

Patricia Mok
What she ate: Mee tai mak
Yummy factor: A long queue at her regular TCM’s turned out to be a blessing in disguise for Patricia, who made good use of the extended waiting time by slurping up a bowl of her fave mee tai mak soup. In fact, she’s such a fan of the comforting dish that she needs to have it at least once a week, with lots of chilli padi, of course.

Rosalyn Lee
What she ate: Crepes
Yummy factor: Remember Rozz’s go-to crepes and watermelon slushie at Sentosa Cove? Well, she went back with a friend for more, sticking to her usual order of smoked salmon and cream cheese, garnished with fresh herbs and edible flowers for extra oomph. Wonder how the nutella one tasted.

Sonia Chew
What she ate: Champagne brunch
Yummy factor: Sonia’s restful weekend at Capitol Kempinski involved plenty of pool time and a most extravagant champagne brunch at 15 Stamford by Alvin Leung. Think the freshest catch from the sea, followed by a charcuterie board and small plates featuring decadent bites like Angus beef and foie gras, as well as a variety of tempting desserts.

Chen Xiuhuan
What she ate: Sweet treats
Yummy factor: Mother’s Day came early for Xiuhuan, thanks to the generous bundle of sweet treats sent over by Pontian Ah Ma. Aside from packets of their popular white coffee and milk tea, Xiuhuan also received fluffy swiss rolls in flavours like earl grey and black sesame, as well as gula melaka cake made fresh with all-natural ingredients like pure pandan juice and shredded coconut.

Jamie Yeo
What she ate: Meatless burger at Black Tap
Yummy factor: Jamie spent her birthday week indulging in all things delish like the American Impossible Burger, which came served with a plant-based patty that tasted just like beef. Pair that with chunky sweet potato fries, larger-than-life onion rings and a pint of peanut butter chocolate milk stout and Jamie’s ready to conquer the world.

Jade Seah
What she ate: Chinese food at Summer Pavilion
Yummy factor: From slurping up poached noodles with Canadian lobster to munching on wok-fried prawns and longevity buns, coupled with scrumptious chocolate cake to end the night with, Jade certainly had her fill of her fave Chinese food at the Michelin-starred establishment.
