Foodie Friday: What The Stars Ate This Week (Apr 10-17)
All the photos that made us hungry this week.

It’s been a sweet week for celebs like Michelle Chia, Xu Bin, Chen Xiuhuan and Zed Lee, who got to indulge their sweet tooth with homemade confections and dessert. And whilst the Muttons decided that a steak-cation was in order, toiling in the kitchen for hours with mummy dearest was well worth the effort for Shane Pow. Check out what the rest of the stars munched on this week.

Fauzie Laily
What he ate: Roti john and sup tulang
Yummy factor: Fauzie got his fix of roti john and sup tulang (beef bone soup) from Tahoo Begedeliciouz, and he was pleasantly surprised by the fiery kick from the soup, which is usually sweet. His advice? Enjoy the soup with lots of bread, and suck the som som (bone marrow) out with vigour for maximum enjoyment!

Shane Pow
What he ate: Hakka abacus seeds
Yummy factor: Chef Pow spent four hours kneading dough and making Hakka abacus seeds with his mum, and that’s probably why their handmade creations look so delicious. It must have made for really good bonding time for the mother-son duo!

Cheryl Wee
What she ate: Nasi lemak
Yummy factor: Cheryl was in for a treat at home with a homemade nasi lemak spread waiting for her — think ikan kuning, fried chicken wings, fluffy coconut-infused rice and a generous dollop of sambal chilli. If that doesn’t sound yummy, we don’t know what will.

Zed Lee
What he ate: Self-decorated cookies
Yummy factor: Fann Wong and Christopher Lee's little one unleashed his inner pastry chef, creating works of edible art using DIY cookie decorating kits from The Custom Bites. While we love how cute Zed looks in his orange baker hat and apron, he needs to go easy on the icing.

Chen Xiuhuan
What she ate: Homemade pretzels
Yummy factor: Xiuhuan's daughter Shalynn Tsai surprised her with trays of freshly-baked golden brown pretzels at home, just because she casually mentioned that she’s been craving for some. Everybody go awww...

Michelle Chia
What she ate: Stewed rock sugar pear
Yummy factor: Michelle shared her recipe for one of her go-to desserts — steamed pear with rock sugar and goji berries — and we love how simple it is to make. Now, time to start searching our refrigerators for some snow pears...

Pierre Png
What he ate: Nasi lemak
Yummy factor: Pierre couldn’t be happier that his wifey Andrea De Cruz has been cooking up a storm during the circuit breaker period, especially when it’s a spread featuring homemade nasi lemak, naturally-dyed blue pea rice and rich curries. But something tells us that the humble sambal belacan probably stole the show.

Xu Bin
What he ate: Cupcakes
Yummy factor: Could it be his fatherly instincts kicking it? Xu Bin made his own frills-free cupcakes from a recipe meant for a six-inch cake. And despite their plain appearance, Xu Bin commented that they tasted pretty good.

Felicia Chin
What she ate: Hakata ramen
Yummy factor: Felicia’s been cooking more at home, and this time she was inspired to make braised pork and some dry hakata ramen to go along with it. Couple that with a soft-boiled egg, tangy black vinegar and lots of fiery chilli, and voila — a shiok fusion lunch is ready!

The Muttons
What they ate: Fantasteak delivery
Yummy factor: Food deliveries can make for a pretty luxe meal too, especially when it’s from Wolfgang’s Steakhouse. Vernon got the Porterhouse steak, while Justin ordered the Taste of New York, a USDA prime black Angus sirloin steak. Check out that gorgeous pink meat!

Jade Seah
What she ate: Ayam buah keluak
Yummy factor: Jade loves buah keluak so much she had it on back-to-back days. "The nut bits are scooped out, mixed with other things and stuffed back in", and then braised with chicken in thick tamarind gravy, so it's "slightly bitter, slightly sweet, kind of complex, and very delicious", says Jade. She sure got us intrigued.

Sheila Sim
What she ate: Handmade wantons
Yummy factor: Sheila got productive and endeavoured to make her own wontons at home, filling them with diced chestnuts, minced prawn and pork. They turned out really plump and juicy with her soupy noodles — yum!

Calvert Tay, Hong Huifang Zheng Geping, and Tay Ying
What they ate: Bak kut teh
Yummy factor: Tay Ying and her fam had a most sumptuous dinner from Legendary Bak Kut Teh in the comforts of their own home — even health-conscious Geping joined in to nom on the fried you tiao, braised intestines, ngoh hiang and more... Well, he’ll have ample time to exercise for the rest of the month, anyway!

Rosalyn Lee
What she ate: Thai-style crab fried rice
Yummy factor: What do you do when the khao pad bu sold elsewhere just doesn’t contain enough crab meat for you? Well, you order solid blue swimmer crab lumps online and fry up your own zhng-ed version at home like Rozz. In case you’re wondering, yes, that’s a whopping 227g of crab meat in her rice.

Michelle Wong
What she ate: Milo brownies
Yummy factor: Michelle went live on The Celebrity Agency’s Instagram account to demo her version of Malted Milo Brownies — the name itself is enough to make us salivate in anticipation. Dusted with a layer of Milo powder, her creation turned out to be really fudgy and decadent, and that’s always a plus.

Kym Ng
What she ate: Korean favourites
Yummy factor: Kym has been really busy in the kitchen, and we’ve gotta give it to her for putting in so much effort to cook for two. Check out her restaurant-worthy Korean army stew and kimchi fried rice (with the perfect wobbly sunny side up!). Who else thinks multi-hyphenate Kym may just venture into F&B after this?

Yvonne Lim
What she ate: Blueberry cream cheese muffins
Yummy factor: Yvonne did a poll on Instagram Stories and found out that several of her followers were interested in her recipe for blueberry cream cheese muffins, and the mum-of-two gladly obliged with a tutorial featuring her helpful kiddos, and of course, the fluffy baked goods.

Michelle Chong
What she ate: Cockles and conch
Yummy factor: Staying home hasn’t stopped Michelle from indulging in bedtime suppers. This time, she chose to have shellfish and champagne in bed, complete with spicy chilli topped with lots of Chinese parsley — perfect for her blanched cockles and conch.

Kelly Poon
What she ate: Hearty breakfast platter
Yummy factor: Despite Kelly's husband Roger Yo’s busy work schedule, he managed to make time to bring her out for brekkie at one of her fave spots, Gonna Cafe in Taipei. And judging by Kelly’s blissful expression, we bet the Farmer’s Breakfast hit the spot for her with its grilled goodness.

Shen Momo
What he ate: Homemade crackers
Yummy factor: Papa Alfred Sim was inspired to make a healthy snack for his son, and got cracking (pun intended) in the kitchen with rice cake blocks he got from Don Don Donki. The result? A non-fried cracker that’s baked to perfection, relatively guilt-free and gets Shen Momo’s nod of approval!

Sonia Chew
What she ate: Grilled seafood platter
Yummy factor: Too much for two? No problem. Sonia didn’t put her leftovers from her Rumours Bar & Grill’s seafood platter to waste. In fact, she made good use of the lobsters and squid in her dinner prep and created her own dish — seafood fried rice!

Kimberly Wang
What she ate: Brownie
Yummy factor: What else can you do when you’re staying home (all the time) and itching to snack? Munch on some decadent brownies like Kimberly, of course. Too lazy to bake? Try this oozy salted caramel and Nutella skillet cookie instead.

Sharon Au
What she ate: Local favourites
Yummy factor: Sharon managed to get her comforting takeaway of local hawker fare from The Hood in Paris — think laksa, nasi lemak and chicken rice (complete with Sriracha chilli and ginger). Whilst they probably have been tweaked to suit the French palate, it’s probably as good as it gets halfway across the globe.
