Foodie Friday: What The Stars Ate This Week (Mar 25 - Apr 1)
All the photos that made us hungry this week.

This week, Chantalle Ng joined Sharon Au for an impromptu hotpot session in Paris, Zoe Tay had her fill of nasi lemak with Jin Yinji, Felicia Chin and Jeffrey Xu, Michelle Chong was spotted enjoying hawker fare with her parents, while Chen Xiuhuan couldn’t be happier to tuck into her fried Hokkien mee. Read on for more tantalising details.

Chantalle Ng and Sharon Au
What they ate: Chinese hotpot
Yummy factor: An impromptu trip to the City of Love saw Chantalle joining Paris-based Sharon for a hearty hotpot session complete with yuan yang soup bases (including what looks like a mala one for spice girl Chantalle), plenty of sliced meats, and more. And because there’s always room for dessert, the ladies treated themselves to waffles too. Chantalle had hers topped with fruits, while Sharon went for the full works with gelato and sinful whipped cream.

Michelle Chong
What she ate: Hawker fare
Yummy factor: Michelle had a scrumptious breakfast with her folks at Amoy Street Food Centre, where they shared the yummy beef noodles from Hong Kee Beef Noodle (a recipient of the Michelin Bib Gourmand) and what looks like sliced fish soup with prawns from Piao Ji. We can only imagine the snaking queues she had to brave to get her hands on these popular eats on a Sunday.

Yvonne Lim
What she ate: Singapore favourites
Yummy factor: With Singapore’s Covid-19 measures easing earlier this week (Mar 29), Yvonne expressed her support by having a taste of home at Toast Box in Taipei with her Singaporean friends. It probably hits different to munch on local eats like kaya toast and hae mee when you are residing overseas.

Felicia Chin, Jin Yinji, Zoe Tay, and Jeffrey Xu
What they ate: Nasi lemak platter
Yummy factor: Lunch at Poison Ivy Bistro was a sumptuous one, thanks to a hungry Jin jie, who ordered at least two portions of the generous nasi lemak platter — filled with blue pea rice, sambal goreng, fried chicken, otah and more — to share, as well as curry chicken with prata.

Zhu Houren
What he ate: Nasi liwet from House of Nasi Tumpeng
Yummy factor: Also enjoying a loads of rice was Houren. While the veteran actor isn’t a stranger to the House of Nasi Tumpeng’s larger-than-life platters, it’s his first time trying out their newest menu item, nasi liwet. Well, it’s no surprise he gave his thumb of approval for the Indonesian-style spiced coconut rice dish accompanied by sedap sides like sambal chilli petai gizzard, beef rendang and cumi cabe ijo (salted squid with green chilli).

Chen Xiuhuan
What she ate: Hokkien mee
Yummy factor: Xiuhuan sure looks elated to be having fried Hokkien mee for lunch, complete with a squeeze of tangy lime and generous dollop of spicy sambal chilli. And seeing how it’s from Ghim Moh Food Centre, we’d hazard a guess that it's from the Yuan Hokkien Fried Prawn Mee stall that was formerly from Margaret Drive.

Diana Ser
What she ate: Tapas
Yummy factor: After their movie date, Diana took her youngest daughter, Jaymee, out for tapas — grilled meats and parma ham with fried sunny-side-ups and potatoes. Which made a pensive Diana wonder if Jaymee would ring her up for lunch when she’s all grown up.

Ann Kok and Patricia Mok
What they ate: Wine pairing dinner
Yummy factor: Dinner was a boozy affair for Ann and Pat who wined and dined at Origin Grill last night (Mar 31). Their five-course degustation meal included exquisite eats like pork collar with cauliflower, and decadent desserts paired with Penfolds wines.

Darren Tan and Evelyn Tan
What they ate: Dim sum
Yummy factor: Darren was so impressed with his family lunch at Xin Cuisine, he couldn’t help but wax lyrical about it. According to him, the dim sum they had was “out of this world”, and he especially enjoyed the deep-fried dace fish balls with clam sauce. Now if that doesn’t tempt you to try it for yourself, we don’t know what will.

Pornsak
What he ate: Teochew porridge
Yummy factor: Looks like Pornsak has a thing for porridge for supper. For his late-night feast this week, the host and former actor Kang Chengxi headed to Heng Long Teochew Porridge, where they ordered salted duck eggs and minced meat patties, fried omelette, lup cheong, braised beancurd and more.

Phyllis Quek
What she ate: Fancy nosh
Yummy factor: Phyllis definitely lived it up this week at private wine club 67 Pall Mall, where she enjoyed grilled wild sea bass and seasonal greens, snapper and scallop ceviche with calamansi lime, as well as fusion creations like burrata cheese served in black vinegar and Sichuan pepper dressing with a fried dough fritter on the side.

Rao Zijie and Das DD
What they ate: Mushroom congee
Yummy factor: There’s no need to simmer congee for hours when you can achieve a similar consistency by blending cooked rice. Das tried out the cool hack with Zijie in this week’s episode of #JustSwipeLah to great effect — all that’s missing is some fried shallots for extra oomph. By the way, did you know congee is purportedly a great hangover cure? Stay tuned to #JustSwipeLah for the recipe.

Jean Danker
What she ate: Hello Kitty high tea
Yummy factor: Talk about a high tea set that’s almost too adorable to eat. We spotted Jean having cocktail bar Anti:dote's Hello Kitty Whimsical Tea Indulgence set, and it was a kawaii ensemble of drinks and sweet and savoury bites inspired by the Sanrio character. The Hello Kitty fangirl must have been over the moon.

Yasminne Cheng
What she ate: Dim sum brunch
Yummy factor: Yasminne teased us with snaps of her leisurely Sunday brunch at Cantonese restaurant 5 On 25, and she couldn't stop raving about the flavourful and wok-hei laden fried rice with wagyu beef and truffle sauce. Oh, and she definitely had her fill of delectable rolls. Think hand-crafted delicacies like lemon bacon rolls, deep-fried duck rolls, lobster rolls, shrimp and cod dish beancurd rolls... You get the drift.

Michelle Wong
What she ate: Chendol
Yummy factor: Michelle’s all for having a refreshing chendol to combat the afternoon heat, especially when it’s served in a convenient cup and chock full of ingredients like red beans, attap chee, green jelly noodles and coconut milk. It was her first time visiting the stall — Four Seasons Cendol — at Toa Payoh Lorong 8 Food Centre, and it probably won’t be her last.

Ferlyn Wong
What she ate: Heavy lunch
Yummy factor: For Ferlyn to head out for lunch, it has to be for something worthy like the fried porridge from Old World, a food stall in Tampines. She made the most out of her trip by enjoying it alongside Taiwanese-style mee sua, braised chicken feet and sides like a braised egg and preserved vegetables. Talk about a shiok meal.

Siau Jiahui
What she ate: Mediterranean-inspired cuisine
Yummy factor: Jiahui concluded her week with a mummy and daughter date at Artemis Grill & Sky Bar, where they shared dishes like roasted barramundi and chicken breast with creamy polenta. And while she doesn’t usually opt for Mediterranean food, the Fremantle Octopus dish and desserts proved to be delish.

Nick Shen
What he ate: Peranakan feast
Yummy factor: Nick shared his love for Peranakan food with family at Different Taste Cafe & Restaurant, where he introduced them to his fave dish of all time — ayam buah keluak. And while the tamarind gravy and buah keluak nuts may have an acquired taste, the other Nyonya specials like fish maw soup, housemade hae cho (deep-fried prawn rolls), and curry fish head were certainly crowd-pleasers.

Bonnie Loo
What she ate: Teochew dishes
Yummy factor: Nothing short of decadent, Bonnie’s lunch at Chinese restaurant Paradise Teochew featured a classic dim sum trio platter to start off with, followed by tender Spanish Duroc pork, la mian with plump scallops, and a hearty soup. We love a girl with a healthy appetite.

Dasmond Koh and Zoe Tay
What they ate: Boozy brunch
Yummy factor: Dasmond and Zoe’s schedules finally managed to align for his belated birthday celebration (Dasmond turned 50 on Feb 22), and they caught up over booze and brunch at The Bar at 15 Stamford, where they had free-flow cocktails, spirits and sparkling wine, as well as the signature Boodle Fight Feast — a hearty char-grilled platter of tender meats, succulent seafood and greens.

Kimberly Chia
What she ate: Pancakes
Yummy factor: The glowing mum-to-be indulged her sweet tooth by having a thick stack of fluffy pancakes complete with sliced bananas and strawberries, as well as generous sprinkling of crushed nuts and drizzle of chocolate sauce. Yum.
