Taiwan’s “Best” Fried Chicken Cutlet Stall Devil Evolution Opening S’pore Outlet On Oct 4

The brand did a pop-up stint here earlier in April this year at Shilin Singapore, the local version of Taiwan’s famed Shilin Night Market. The pop-up stall spawned a four-hour queue that was packed with an estimated 80 to 100 people, and our colleague who attempted to line up for some fried chicken cutlets gave up after three hours and went home empty-handed.

For those who didn’t manage to try the fried chicken at Shilin Singapore, take heart: Devil Evolution is opening their first franchised Singapore outlet next month (turns out, their pop-up here is really a sign of things to come after all). The brand currently also has franchised outlets in Malaysia.

The takeaway kiosk at Century Square mall in Tampines is slated to soft launch on October 4 next week. A second outlet at the basement of Jurong’s JCube mall (where Don Don Donki is also setting up their seventh branch) will open on October 25.

There’s a slight name change for the Singapore outlets, though. Instead of Devil Evolution, the shops will be called Devil Chicken instead, as its local franchise director Wayne Bah tells 8days.sg that it’s “easier” for Singaporeans to remember.

But the same Devil Evolution chicken cutlets will be served here. Only two flavours will be offered at the kiosk’s initial opening: Original and Spicy (both $7.90 each). “All the other flavours, like cheese, will be available later,” franchise director Wayne says.

While Devil Evolution Taiwan offers beverages like milk tea with grass jelly and custard pudding toppings, the Singapore outlet will serve only bottled drinks for now.

Looks like west is the best if you’re looking for famous Taiwanese chicken cutlet shops — variety show comedian Nono’s Monga fried chicken chain is opening its first local outlet at Jem mall in Jurong this Saturday (September 28) too. Nice.
