Dennis Chew On Being Told He Can’t Be A Leading Man & How He Almost Became A Father... Twice

The comedian-actor-DJ, whose movie Make It Big Big is in cinemas now, gets real with us about the harsh realities of showbiz and his relationship with his dad.

It’s probably one of local showbiz’s greatest travesties that Dennis Chew isn’t a bigger star than he already is. Don’t get us wrong. Dennis, who Ch 8 viewers know as Zhou Chongqing, is very famous and very well-loved. It’s just that for someone as talented and as likeable as Dennis, he should probably be a Li Nanxing or a Christopher Lee… if the world was a little fairer. But that’s just one of the harsh realities of showbiz that Dennis tells us he has come to terms with decades ago.

8 DAYS is now with the star (He acts! He hosts! He can make us laugh!) who is doing a series of interviews to promote his new movie Make It Big Big. The film, which he stars in with his The Love 97.2 Breakfast Quartet hosts Marcus Chin, Chen Biyu and Mark Lee, who also doubles up as the film’s director, is a semi-autobiography of the public and private lives of the four radio presenters. In case you don’t know The Love 97.2 Breakfast Quartet (or Yu Jian Huang Chong, an amalagamation of their Chinese names) is a big, sorry, massive deal. The uber-popular radio program is Singapore’s most-listened to morning radio show (one more feather in Dennis’s cap, we must add) that has also spun off into a TV variety show, a musical and now a movie.
