Sun De Rong threatens to stop 5566 reunion

Sun De Rong, 5566’s former manager, has threatened to stop the group’s reunion ahead of the Golden Bell Awards. The group was previously confirmed to reunite at this year’s awards ceremony which is slated to take place on October 8.

De Rong slammed the organisers, claiming that the group has not been given the treatment they deserve. He declared, “I cannot accept 5566 being degraded from the title of the Kings of Asia to the Kings of Taiwan.”

He made a public request for them to treat them as the superstars that they are, demanding a “team of the best makeup artists and stylists, two vehicles to ferry them from point to point, a 20 second video clip of their best moments and for Rio Peng to walk the red carpet with the rest of the group”. Rio left the group in 2003 after sustaining a serious injury.

De Rong has maintained that if his four requirements are not met, that he has ability to stop the reunion from happening. He also shared that he was disappointed with them not notifying him about the reunion, and that he will not be making an appearance at the awards ceremony because he has yet to receive an invitation.

In response to De Rong’s words, Zax Wang, Tony Sun and Jason Hsu’s respective managers have shared that they knew about the press conference in advance and that the members respect De Rong greatly. Rio did not respond to queries at press time, but recent reports have stated that Rio will be walking the red carpet with the rest of the group in order to not disappoint the fans of the group.
