S.H.E rumoured to go on three-year hiatus

Taiwanese girl group S.H.E. had their last performance of the year at Taipei’s Spring Wave Music and Art Festival finale last Sunday (Nov 13) and sang their latest single, Always Here, which was released in commemoration of their 15th anniversary, for the first and possibly the last time this year.

After the song, they told the audience, “There are four of us here, not three”, referring to Ella Chen’s baby in her tummy. Ella, who is currently four months pregnant, has received much media attention recently due to her pregnancy announcement, and fans are concerned that the rumours of S.H.E going on a three-year long hiatus to allow Ella to focus on taking care of her child will come true.

Selina Jen and Hebe Tien fueled the rumours at the music festival, when they expressed their wish for Ella to be ready to return to the group once her child turns one, seemingly preparing the fans for their absence from the music scene as a group in the next year.

However, HIM International Music, the record label representing the group refuted the rumours and said “No such thing, we will definitely consider these matters seriously, especially when it affects S.H.E.’s personal lives, we actually haven’t spoke to her (referring to Ella) in detail about this”.

HIM International Music explained further that their individual schedules clashed, which resulted in the girl group’s lack of performances and appearances as a group for the end-of-year festivities, they also said that a three-year hiatus is “really impossible.”
