“I think the friendship between Rebecca and I is very strange," Desmond said. "What’s weird is that we were friends before entering showbiz. When Mediacorp offered her a contract, we talked about whether she should accept it or continue on her path to becoming a doctor (…) I told her to give it a try, and she signed the contract. At the time, I never thought I’d follow in her footsteps.”
