These Two Local Brands Tap On Plants To Make Jewellery And Halal Skincare

Singapore is a Garden City after all.

Singapore is also known as the Garden City, so it’s no surprise that local brands are tapping on our lush reputation to make products that soothe and beautify you. Bare for Bare is an “affordable luxury” skincare label that offers lotions, shower gels, shampoos and conditioners infused with fragrant essential oil extracts like rosemary, lemongrass and chamomile. It’s also halal-certified, which means the products are not made from animal-derived ingredients and alcohol, and are also not tested on animals.

Meanwhile, local jewellery brand The Mindful Company is inspired by Singapore’s “urban landscape” for its new collection called Places of Calm. The company’s two young female founders, Ciara Yeo and Wen Ling Lim, tell us they hiked at local parks to observe plants and gather ideas for their jewellery. The delicate nine-piece line is shaped after four types of flowers and plants found in Singapore (Bougainvillea, Elephant’s Ear, Ruffled Fan Palm and Singapore Kopsia). Both brands also don’t hurt your wallet too much, so whether you’re bogged down by your COE, BTO downpayment or kids’ tuition fees, you don’t have to spend like a Crazy Rich Asian to treat yourself.
