TVB Actor Shaun Tam Forced To Lay Off Restaurant Staff After Business Fell By 90%
Fellow TVB star Rosina Lam’s 19 dim sum eateries have also been hit hard by the pandemic.
The Covid-19 resurgence in Hongkong has taken a toll on businesses and celebrity enterprises have naturally not been spared either.
In order to survive, TVB actor Shaun Tam’s steakhouse Forkers in To Kwa Wan has had to pivot to take-out, and it has also applied for a licence to sell raw meat and ham products.
Even then, business has reportedly dropped by 90 per cent, resulting in losses of more than HK$100,000 (S$17.4K) in the past two months.
Shaun's business is struggling to stay afloat
Shaun, who is currently shooting a new drama in China, said that after a discussion with his business partner, they had to make the difficult decision to lay off staff.
"I hope the pandemic will end soon, but I predict we will have to start over from scratch when the time comes,” he said.

Another celeb whose business has been hit hard is TVB star Rosina Lam, who owns 19 dim sum eateries.
Like Shaun’s restaurant, the shops are focusing on take-out and delivery, and despite the rather bleak situation, there are no plans for layoffs.
The actress recently shut her North Point outlet temporarily after an employee tested positive for Covid. She also suspended delivery services of the Sham Shui Po outlet due to the concentration of Covid-19 cases in the area.
