Stefanie Sun Is Not Dead (And Other Famous Victims Of Death Hoaxes)

National treasure Stefanie Sun was reported to have died, supposedly crushed by a fallen prop during a concert in New York. The fake news came from state-news.com, which wrote, "official news just broke out the singer died from injuries sustained from the accident". The singer's representative has since refuted the report and said Stefanie is in good health. Her representative also confirmed Stefanie has been in Singapore recording a new album.

In 2013 actor Aaron Aziz was reported to have perished in a snowboarding accident in Switzerland. The false report even said he was air lifted to a local hospital. Very imaginative, considering the hunk and Meet The MP star was in South Africa filming Fear Factor Malaysia 2 when the (fake) news broke.

The same news site that reported Aaron Aziz's death was also behind Jackie Chan's death hoax in 2013. Their spin this time? That the superstar fell off a mountain in Austria. But because so many people responded with shock and grief, Jackie soon took the above picture and posted on Facebook and Twitter, saying “... Everybody called me to see if I was alive,” Chan wrote on his Facebook wall. “If I died, I would probably tell the world! I took a photo with today’s date, just in case you don’t believe me! However, thank you all for your concern.”

While in China in March to promote a movie, a tweet from a dubious Twitter account, set up to look like Fox News, said Mr Bean had been killed in a car crash. The tweet has since been shared and liked ore than 300,000 times. The tweet – which got his age wrong, read: “FOX BREAKING NEWS : Mr. Bean (Rowan Atkinson) died at 58 after car accident. -March 18, 2017.” Rowan Atkinson, 62, has been the target of many death hoaxes, but this one caught the most people off guard.
